MBTS Celebrates 375

Fortuitously, the Manchester-by-the-Sea 375th Anniversary Gala cocktail party and auction went on as scheduled at Essex County Club, a few days before the massive cancellations. On this evening of March 7 attendees were in a festive mood, providing generous, high-spirited support for the fundraising goals. The intrepid Senator Bruce Tarr handled auctioneer duties and also presented the two co-chairs of the 375th Committee, Sue Thorne and Tom Kehoe, with replicate plaques documenting the 1989 name change of the town.

Somehow Senator Tarr and co-chair Kehoe extracted $350 from the crowd for purchase of the Bruins jersey, one of the bargain items in the live auction. The silent auction also produced very active bidding. Dan Bacon contemplated the half shells. After this most excellent evening of community fervor and fun, everyone went home with a delicious macaroon cookie for late night snack. It could not have been a more perfect evening and event, before the Deluge.
