Sawyer Free Library Reopens
Sawyer Free Library celebrates its grand reopening September 5 with a ribbon-cutting, followed by a community open house September 6. After nearly two years of renovation, the project unites the historic 1913 and 1976 structures with a striking 14,000-square-foot addition. The transformed library features an expanded Children’s Room, Teen Room, Digital Learning Lab, 100-seat Community Room, and Local History Research Center with rare books, archives, and historian Joseph Garland’s desk. Visitors will also enjoy study rooms, communal spaces, and Leslie Bartlett’s three-story mural Cape Ann Quarries, a luminous tribute to Gloucester’s granite, landscape, and sky. 2 Dale Avenue, Gloucester.
