Cocktail Party by Carol St. John

Dog Days of Summer

Whether reclining in the salon or on a sandy beach on Cape Ann, it is time to relax and enjoy these final weeks of repose.

COSMOS subscribers, out and about, spent the cocktail hour with Alex Westerhoff and Toby Muller, enjoying the ambiance and residential artistry of their home, located on the highest land in Manchester-by-the-Sea. A stunning gallery of design, the interior combines classical, retro, modern and imagination. The residence is dog friendly and most hospitable to human company too. A lovely time was had by all. Remarkably: The home at 3 Colburn Road, and contents, are on the market! COSMOS can arrange an introduction.

Culture Splash Thursdays in Gloucester — A HIT!

Now winding down in its second season, the weekly Thursday evening Culture Splash Event, founded by Discover Gloucester and orchestrated with many of our Gloucester cultural venues, has acquired traction, and is growing into a very special addition to the summer cultural scene. Each Thursday features a unique roster of events and it is best to plan ahead. Two more Culture Splash evenings remain for this summer: August 18 and 25. See you around town! Photos below from recent Culture Splash Thursday, August 11.

COSMOS' first stop was at the Gloucester Meetinghouse, to view artwork by Pia Juhn Nadel, a Gloucester artist known for paintings of quarries and rock formation. Her new paintings focus on Gloucester neighborgoods.

The other four were Eileen Muller, Joan Frank (1941-2014), Carol St. John, and Patti Sullivan.

A late arrival at Matthew Swift Gallery opening of Right Here on Paper: Gloucester and Environs. Not too late for crackers & cheese.
