ARTIST EDNA ANDRADE AT HARVARD MUSEUM 
Artist & educator Edna Andrade is receiving “long overdue recognition”, according to art scholar Charles Giuliano, with an exhibition at Harvard University Art Museums. BAROQUE AND BACK TO BLACK  
With a voice described as “astonishingly beautiful”, countertenor Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen will perform at Shalin Liu on November 2, with a repertoire from Baroque to contemporary. Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen. MARK KURLANSKY REVISITS THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR 
Author Mark Kurlansky will discuss his new book The Boston Way: Radicals Against Slavery & The Civil War, a revisionist view of the war as a useful strategy to end racism. October 25, Sawyer Free Library. Kurlansky Registration

RARE PAINTINGS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTIONARY WAR     
The Beverly Historical Society is showing a set of paintings on the Revolutionary War naval engagements which long remained out of public view until now, and to be featured in Ken Burns’ acclaimed documentary series The American Revolution in November. Beverly Historical Society

MELANCHOLY PLAY AT GORDON 
To ponder the nature of melancholy is an apt subject for the season. The theater group at Gordon College will soon produce Melancholy Play, where melancholy becomes an alluring trait, until it doesn’t. Melancholy Play Tickets

EARTH MUSIC THEATER LIVE AT SHALIN LIU 
On October 26, a most intriguing event Earth Music Theater Live, is described as a fusion of music, science, and storytelling. The intended effect is to experience Earth from a profoundly new perspective. Former NASA astronaut and author Cady Coleman will share stories.  Free, reservations encourage. Earth Music Theater

AN ONGOING DIALOGUE OPENS AT COSMOS GALLERY 
Next up at COSMOS Gallery will be Nella De Luca Lush and Steve Lush, two of the region’s legendary artists.  Nella is known for her representational abstract genre and Steve for his prolific range of techniques, both painting and sculpture. Opening reception Saturday, October 25, 4-6pm.
